Meet our Honorary Chair, Ruth H. Mahoney 

 

Ruth H. Mahoney serves as Market President for KeyBank’s Capital Region market, and as such is the senior executive, representative and spokeswoman, and leads the organization’s economic and community development efforts. She also oversees the Retail Bank in the Capital Region. Most recently, Mahoney served as president of the Hudson Valley/Metro New York Market and sales leader for its Key Private Bank team. She originally joined Key in 1991 as a member of Key’s Management Associate Program. She has also worked for Bank of America (formerly Fleet Bank) in Albany, where she served as Private Bank senior vice president and city executive and global wealth management executive. 

Mahoney earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing with a minor in communications from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She formerly held Series 7 and 63 licenses and was a certified trust and financial advisor. She was named “Executive of the Year” by the Capital Region Business Review in 2017. She was the Honorary Co-Chair of the 2017 American Red Cross Fire and Ice Gala, a 2016 “Athena” named by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, a 2016 Corporate Partner of the year of the Women’s Club of White Plains, the 2014 Corporate Champion Award from the YWCA of White Plains, as well as the 914INC. award from 914INC. Women in Business. Mahoney has been honored by the Women’s Enterprise Development Corp in 2013, Girls Inc. of Westchester as a Purseonality in 2012, Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Business Council as a Woman of Excellence (2004), the Business Review as a Forty under 40 award winner (2003), Hope House Funding Corporation as a Circle of Hope recipient (2003), the YWCA of Schenectady as a Woman of Achievement (2009), and the Women’s Fund of the Greater Capital Region Trailblazer Award (2011). She was also a member and Team Captain for the Marist College (Division I) Women’s Basketball Team ’87-91 and of the 1987 Irish National Junior Basketball Team.

An active member and leader of the Capital Region community, she serves as a board director for Albany Medical Center, the United Way of New York State, is a member of the board of the New York Bankers Association, The Capital Region Chamber of Commerce Board. A founding member of the Women’s Fund of the Greater Capital Region, Mahoney is a former board member of the Westchester County Association, Westchester Medical Center, United Way of Dutchess and Putnam County, United Way of Northeastern New York, St. Pius X School (Loudonville, N.Y.), Girls Inc. and Albany Institute of History and Art. She is an alumnus and former co-chair of the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce’s Capital Leadership Program.

Ruth lives in the Capital Region with her husband Robert and son Patrick is a freshman at RPI.
